Trip Itinerary

Friday, May 2nd 2025

Depart the USA and get ready to experience the adventure of a lifetime!

Saturday, May 3rd 2025

Arrive in Thessaloniki. You will be welcomed by an airport concierge agent at the gate or at the stairs with personalized signage, before being privately escorted through a fast-tracked immigration, baggage claim, and customs process. You will then be privately transferred to the Electra Palace Hotel for check-in before enjoying a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Sunday, May 4th 2025

We begin our morning driving out of Thessaloniki journeying east towards Philippi (Acts 16:11-40; Philippians). Philippi provided the setting for the transition from the Roman Republic to the early Empire as the forces of Octavian (Augustus) and Mark Antony defeated the army of Brutus and Cassius. Octavian, the first emperor of Rome and one of the most significant figures in history, provides an important case study in leadership as he transformed the Roman Republic in the Roman Empire. The ambitions and actions of his adopted father Julius Caesar led to his assassination; Augustus avoided such a calamity. How? Philippi also served as the first major city Paul visited when he came to Europe. Why did he choose Philippi? How did Paul advance his mission in an unknown environment? Philippi will also offer a case study for Paul’s actions and choices—his engagement of his world in the marketplace and the challenges he faced and had to overcome. We will see a stretch of the ancient Roman road, the Via Egnatia, which stretched across northern Greece, and was utilized by Paul as he journeyed through the region. We continue to the modern city of Kavala, ancient Neapolis (Acts 16:11), where Paul first came onto the European continent. At Kavala, we will have lunch and process our day together. We return to Thessaloniki for dinner at Kritikos Restaurant Port and stay overnight at Electra Palace.

Monday, May 5th 2025

Our focus today looks at the kingdom of Alexander the Great. The legacy of leadership and addressing the paradoxes and dilemmas of leadership frame our journey today as we begin at Vergina, the site of the royal tomb of Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great, who did much to ensure Alexander’s success. Vergina was also the site of Philip’s assassination, which launched the career of Alexander. We return to Thessaloniki (Acts 17:1-9; 1 and 2 Thessalonians) and transfer to the airport for our flight to Athens, where we will be met by a local representative and transferred to our hotel, the Athens Capital. Dinner tonight will be enjoyed at the rooftop restaurant of the Grande Bretagne. We will stay overnight in Athens at Athens Capital Hotel.

Tuesday, May 6th 2025

Our morning begins driving out from Athens to the ancient battlefield of Marathon. Leading in the face of adversity and positioning for strategic advantage provide the focus of our tour of this significant battlefield in the Persian Wars, when the Athenians defeated the much larger Persian invasion forces. After touring the site of Marathon, the museum and battlefield, we return to our hotel for a leadership debriefing and leadership seminar about our morning. Dinner tonight is at the Port of Piraeus at the chef restaurant of Varoulko. We will stay overnight in Athens at Athens Capital Hotel.

Wednesday, May 7th 2025

Today our touring explores the ancient city of Athens, the birthplace of democracy and philosophers like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. We begin our day at the New Acropolis Museum. This beautiful, state-of-the-art museum is dedicated to the artifacts and excavations of the Acropolis. After touring the museum, we visit the Acropolis, with the Parthenon, the temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena. We then walk down to visit the Areopagus, Mars Hill where Paul encountered the council of Athens (Acts 17:16-34). Continuing down the hill, we come to the Agora of Athens and the Stoa of Attalos where both Paul and Socrates encountered and engaged the people of Athens. Communication as leaders forms a big part of our conversations today. Dinner will be enjoyed overlooking the Acropolis at Kuzina and we will stay overnight at Athens Capital Hotel.

Thursday, May 8th 2025

Today is about leadership, processing, relaxation, and leisure. This morning our leadership seminar brings together the learning and experiences of the trip to help you design and build an implementation plan for your future. After lunch, we set sail on a private yacht along the Greek Rivera. The afternoon is filled with water, sun, food, and conversations. Dinner will be enjoyed at Stamatopoulos Tavern and we will stay overnight at Athens Capital Hotel.

Friday, May 9th 2025

We leave Athens today and drive south into the Peloponnese, the peninsula of southern Greece, to Corinth (Acts 18:1-17; 1 and 2 Corinthians). On our way, we stop to see the Corinthian Canal. Our visit includes the small, but important museum of Corinth, visiting the theater and the inscription of Erastus, the city treasurer (Romans 16:23), as well as the Bema of Gallio and the agora of Corinth. After lunch, we visit the upper city of Corinth, the Acro Corinth, and the ancient harbor of Cenchrea (Acts 18:18). Dinner tonight will be enjoyed at the Margi Farm, a farm to table dining experience. We will stay overnight at Athens Capital Hotel.

Saturday, May 10th 2025

Today we depart Athens retuning home empowered to lead better as a person of faith. You will be greeted upon arrival at the airport at a prearranged meeting point by your personal Airport Concierge Agent before receiving assistance through check-in and luggage transfer. You will then be privately escorted through security via a fast-track process, and escorted to the comfort of a lounge while waiting to board your flight.
